Bug Out!!!

It’s true. We packed up and bailed a couple of hours down the road last night. Hotels.com coming in clutch! We had set everything up and crawled into the tent to try and ride out the storm but it just wasn’t going to happen. Our site was on an exposed hill and the wind just got worse and worse and worse. The tent *probably* would have been fine but it was rocking and rolling and flapping in a way that would have resulted in zero sleep. So we made the choice while we still had light to pack up and scoot.

The storm was pretty big and stretched across the plains. So large in fact there were tornado watches where we are stopping tonight near Theodore Roosevelt National Park! It wasn’t in the forecast either. People in the hotel were talking about it at breakfast! The wind was so bad at the hotel that things were flapping and banging around all night there too.

The important thing is we assessed the risk and made the choice that was best for all involved with no one getting hurt. Adventuring done right! Today is mostly a drive day with a little exploration at Fort Union Trading Post and tomorrow is exploring Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
