Glacier To North Dakota

We had a mostly uneventful drive to our next destination which was Buffalo Gap Campground in North Dakota. I say mostly uneventful as we unfortunately sustained a rock chip to the windshield which we will need to sort in Columbus. Anywho back to the adventure.

We drove highway 2 nearly all day through beautiful but harsh countryside. We stopped at Fort Union Trading post which was run by a rival company to the Hudson Bay Company and was laid out very, very similar to Fort Vancouver but with very different walls. We then meandered on down the road and got to see the confluence of the Yellowstone River and Missouri River.

It was then time to get ourselves to camp and we had a beautiful drive through the Little Missouri National Grasslands to get there. The campsite was clean and sheltered from the wind a bit. We also had a fuzzy friend stop by for a visit and a meal. The only drawback was the presence of ticks 😳 I had never before seen a tick in real life and they were crawling on the cement pad we were on as we were avoiding the brush to avoid them. I didn’t realize that was a thing. Fortunately no one was bit and I do come prepared so I broke out the deet this morning and it seemed to have kept them at bay.
