My Grandfather’s Home Town
Despite the horrendous weather and the fact we were not going to be able to camp between the flash floods and tornado warnings, we still made the drive to my grandfather’s home town of Trommald, Minnesota. Town is not the proper description of this tiny village. The population is 100, there are no stores, churches, hospitals, or even a cemetery. Just a handful steers with houses and a park and a water tower.
I got positively drenched taking this photo
This is Mille Lac. We were supposed to camp here but Mother Nature had some pretty strong opinions other. It looks more like a large inland sea but very shallow as the max depth is about 42 feet. It seems like a good portion if not all of lake freezes in winter as there were many advertisements and notices on proper practices for ice fishing
This statue of a walleye fish and subsequent tall tale was too fun to not grab. I got drenched a second time to get them.
